The Georgia Educational Technology Fair (GaETF) is an annual student competition that gives students the opportunity to showcase their innovative use of technology in daily learning. Started by Lou Dewberry in 2001, the GaETF is the highest level of student technology competition in Georgia. The competition is open to all students in grades 3-12 that reside in Georgia. In order to compete in the GaETF, students must receive first place at a recognized regional (district) technology fair.
All schools are encouraged to hold a local school Technology Fair, in which they will submit their top 2 winners from each category to participate in the APS Technology Fair. If schools choose not to host a Technology Fair, it is requested that Leadership Team members view and approve projects to advance to the District Technology Fair. This is to ensure that all Technology Fair projects submitted by students are of high quality and able to compete at the District & State level Technology Fairs.
All projects submitted to must be designed and created by students. While some adult guidance is allowed, it must be evident that all work entered by students was completed by students. Students that are unable to present their projects for whatever reason, (including illness), may NOT use "proxies." Only students that are part of the original registered team may represent a project at the fair. Projects for each category must be unique and CANNOT be entered in more than one category. Students are able to participate in a maximum of 2 projects, with the exception of the Technology Literacy Challenge. Students are NOT allowed to switch project categories. Projects will only be judged in the category in which it placed first in at the regional fair.
